Our History


Maple Knoll Communities is the surviving organization of three of Cincinnati’s oldest charities: The Widows’ and Old Men’s Home, the Bodmann Widows’ Home, and the Maple Knoll Home. The charity of these fantastic organizations led to the founding of Maple Knoll Communities. Our longevity is a testament to the quality, strength, and perseverance during unfavorable turns in the economy and growing demand in senior care.

Leadership Team


The Maple Knoll Communities’ leadership team approaches each day with enthusiasm towards our mission of delivering the best lifestyle possible for older adults both within our residences and surrounding communities. Our leadership team also strives to provide an exceptional experience for employees by leading with compassion, building trust, and staying true to our core mission and values in every decision we make.

Timothy McGowan

President of Maple Knoll Communities


Tim McGowan is President of Maple Knoll Communities, where he has dedicated nearly two decades to advancing innovative senior living programs and services. His career in long-term care began almost forty years ago as a nursing assistant while pursuing his undergraduate degree at Denison University. Driven by a passion for senior healthcare from a young age, Tim went on to earn his Master’s in Health and Hospital Administration from Xavier University.

In 2005, Tim moved to Oxford, Ohio, and began his 17-year tenure as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Maple Knoll Communities before being named President. Under his leadership, Maple Knoll has flourished—introducing forward-thinking initiatives that are now being modeled by senior living communities nationwide.
