Frequently Asked Questions

Maple Knoll Village provides specialized memory support for older adults living with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other forms of memory loss. Care is personalized to each resident’s abilities, needs and preferences, with a focus on safety, comfort, dignity, meaningful engagement, and quality of life.

There is no single sign that determines when memory care is needed. Families may begin considering memory support when memory loss affects a loved one’s safety, daily routines, personal care, nutrition, medication management, or overall well-being. Our team can talk with you about the changes you are seeing and help determine whether memory care may be an appropriate option.

Both assisted living and memory care provide support with daily activities, but memory care is specifically designed for individuals living with cognitive impairment. Memory care provides additional structure, supervision, specialized programming, and an environment designed to support residents experiencing memory loss.

Memory care programming is designed around residents’ abilities, interests and life experiences. Opportunities may include music, creative activities, movement, social engagement, sensory experiences, and other purposeful programs that encourage connection, familiarity, and meaningful participation.

Yes. Family involvement continues to be an important part of the resident’s experience in memory care at Maple Knoll Village. Families can stay connected with their loved one and communicate with the care team about their needs, preferences, and changes in care. Our team views families as important partners in supporting each resident’s well-being.

Yes. A person does not necessarily need to be a current Maple Knoll Village resident before moving into memory care. Admission is based on an assessment of the individual’s needs, Maple Knoll Village’s ability to appropriately meet those needs, and current availability.

Memory care may be appropriate for someone experiencing cognitive changes that make it difficult or unsafe to live independently or in traditional assisted living. Signs may include increasing confusion, wandering, difficulty managing daily routines, changes in behavior, or a growing need for supervision and personal assistance.

Before admission, each prospective resident is assessed to better understand their cognitive, physical, and personal care needs and determine whether memory care is the appropriate setting. Our team will work with the resident, family, and healthcare providers as appropriate to develop a plan that reflects the individual’s needs and abilities.

Support is individualized and may include assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, medication management, and other activities of daily living. Care is adapted to each resident’s abilities and routines, with an emphasis on preserving independence and dignity whenever possible.

Moving to memory care is a significant transition for both residents and their families. Our team works to learn about each resident’s routines, preferences, interests, and personal history to create familiarity and provide individualized support throughout the transition. Families are encouraged to remain involved and share information that can help us better understand their loved one.

Residents’ needs are regularly evaluated so care and support can be adjusted as appropriate. Because Maple Knoll Village offers additional healthcare services on the same campus, our team can help residents and families understand available options if more advanced nursing or healthcare support becomes necessary.

Memory care costs vary based on the residence, services, and level of support required. Our team can provide current pricing, explain what is included, and discuss any additional care-related costs so families have a clear understanding of their options.
